Trainers' Week virtual conference April 18 - 22, 2016

Cochrane Trainers' Week was a virtual conference that took place from April 18 – 22.  The conference was a series of free online events open to everyone across the Trainers’ Network and beyond, with  a variety of creative and interactive events happening to give Cochrane's Trainers an opportunity to learn, and to learn from each other.

Meet the Trainers
Trainers’ Week opened with a chance to meet and greet other Trainers' Network members.  Cochrane's Learning and Support Department introduced the week and explained plans to continue to support and develop Cochrane’s Trainers’ Network

Cochrane Trainer's Toolbox 
The Learning and Support Department are developing a toolbox to support trainers, including didactic exercises, worked examples, tips, checklists, reading materials.  This session gave trainers a chance to contribute and find out more about the toolbox.

How can ClassMate, a crowd sourcing tool supported by Cochrane, help trainers in delivering innovative and exciting exercises?  This webinar discussed the tool's development and how to get involved in the pilot project.

Methodological updates 

New Risk of Bias tools for RCTs and non-RCTs
Prof Julian Higgins gave trainers an overview of the new tools for Risk of Bias for both RCTs and non-RCTs, including an opportunity for discussion about implications for training.

MECIR Standards: latest updates and appoaches for trainers 
What are the new MECIR Standards and how can trainers embed these in their learning?  Toby Lasserson from Cochrane's Editorial Unit explained the new updates and what they mean for trainers.

Contribute to Cochrane Trainer's Toolbox 
Cochrane Trainer's Toolbox is being developed to support trainers with a wide range of training materials, including didactic exercises, worked examples, tips, checklists, reading materials. As well as running a webinar session on this, we also hada a virtual noticeboard up all week where trainers could pin their own suggestions and ideas.

TaskExchange 
TaskExchange is a software platform that connects people who need help with their Cochrane reviews with people who have the time and expertise to help. Throughout Trainers' Week, attendees were able to find out lots more about this exciting initiative and how it can support Cochrane's Trainers, as well as ask questions and give feedback to its project team.
