Update to Cochrane Interactive Learning - information for existing users

A major update to the Cochrane Interactive Learning modules was implemented on January 8, 2025. Additional information for existing users is available here.

We’re excited to announce that all 12 of our English-language Cochrane Interactive Learning (CIL) modules have been updated and rebuilt using a new, cutting-edge authoring tool.

If you are an existing user that have completed any of the content within the CIL  modules, you may notice a change to how your previous progress through the modules is displayed:

  1. The CIL dashboard (which shows all 12 modules), will still show which of the modules you have completed or partially completed.
  1. If you have previously completed and passed a CIL module, it will still be recorded in ‘Certificates’.
  1. The only change to how your previous progress is recorded, is within the contents page of each module. Moving to the new authoring tool means it is not possible to retain information about which sections you have previously completed within an individual module.  Please note, this change only applies to modules you previously completed before our January 2025 update and rebuild in the new authoring tool. Your future progress  within each CIL module will be tracked going forward.
  2. The updated modules have a ‘Search’ function, which is replacing the previously available ‘Favourites’ and ‘Filter’ functions. This will enable users to quickly locate specific content by keywords, improving navigation and making it easier to access relevant materials.

If you have any questions about this, please contact support@cochrane.org

The update to CIL ensures our 12 modules present and explain the most up-to-date methods, processes and tools for conducting Cochrane systematic reviews of interventions.

While rebuilding the modules, we kept the existing look and feel, but refreshed parts of the design to make it easier to navigate the content and engage with the interactive features. The main goal of rebuilding the modules using a new authoring tool was to ensure their stability and facilitate the future updates and modifications.

With the launch of the updated modules in English, we have also retired the Spanish version of the modules to focus our efforts and ensure our learning resources remain aligned with the latest methodologies, processes and learning standards.

We invite you to explore the updated Cochrane Interactive Learning modules and continue using them to learn how to conduct a Cochrane systematic review of interventions.
